Mojokerto (beritajatim.id) – The Batik Maja Bharama Wastra Small and Medium Industry Center (IKM) in Mojokerto has emerged as a captivating new tourist destination, especially for batik enthusiasts.
According to the official Mojokerto City Government website, this center offers an immersive experience, allowing visitors to observe batik artisans at work, try their hand at batik making, and shop for unique batik products—all in one place.
“The Batik IKM Center is not just a shopping destination; it’s also a learning hub. We have 30 skilled batik artisans ready to assist visitors who want to learn or simply observe the batik-making process,” explained Mojokerto’s Acting Mayor, Moh. Ali Kuncoro.
Located in Gunung Gedangan, Magersari District, this batik center is a must-visit, combining elements of tourism and education.
“Visitors can witness the entire batik production process, from selecting the fabric and sketching designs to dyeing and drying. Our experienced artisans are eager to share their knowledge and skills,” added Ali Kuncoro, affectionately known as Mas Pj.
Ani Wijaya, Head of the Mojokerto Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises, Industry, and Trade Office (Diskopukmperindag), noted that those interested in learning batik at the center must first submit a formal request.
“Please send a request letter to our office. Our batik artisans are ready to guide you. If you only wish to observe the batik-making process, it’s free of charge. However, if you want to practice batik making, you only need to purchase the materials, and you can take your creation home,” said Ani Wijaya.
In addition to observing the batik-making process, the Batik IKM Center also features an exhibition room displaying a variety of Mojokerto’s unique batik patterns.
“With 119 registered batik patterns, all of which are showcased in our exhibition room, visitors can purchase these exclusive designs directly,” she concluded. (tin/ted)
